Academy Award nominees James Caan and Terence Stamp star in the classic
sci-fi tale ALIEN NATION, the
film that inspired the hit television series.
Caan portrays Detective Matthew Sykes, a grizzled and prejudiced cop in a
future San Francisco where aliens, known as ‘Newcomers’, have been
integrated into human society after a long period of quarantine. Sykes’
racist attitudes are put to the test when he is partnered with the first
Newcomer cop (Mandy Patinkin), with whom he must investigate the shady
alien underworld and its charismatic leader William Harcourt (Stamp).
ALIEN NATION combines elements
of science fiction with those of the classic buddy cop genre to produce an
imaginative and highly entertaining experience. Upon release, the film was
awarded a host of science-fiction awards.
