After being dispatched to explore the Lost City of the Ancients – Atlantis, diplomat Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson), Major John Shepherd (Joe Flanigan, CSI) and the rest of the team find themselves stranded without a power source and cut-off from the SG team on earth. Desperate for help they make contact with the Athosians, and so-doing make a powerful new enemy: The Wraith.

In Season 2, the Atlantis Expedition comes up with an ingenious way to stave off the Wraith’s attack by tricking them into believing Atlantis has been destroyed. Meanwhile the team’s chief medical doctor, Dr Beckett (Paul McGillion, Cold Squad) is developing a retrovirus that will turn a Wrath into a human, but will he succeed in time?

The second season sees the introduction of a new regular cast member Ronon Dex – a kind of Teal’c type character from the Pegasus galaxy. Ronon is introduced as the last survivor of his planet after it was attacked by the Wraith.

The season also features episodes guest starring actors from other famous sci-fi series including Connor Trinneer from ‘Star Trek Enterprise’ as a Wraith turned human and then partially back into a Wraith and Brandy Ledford from ‘Andromeda’.

Whilst the whole season is very enjoyable the final two episodes ‘Inferno’ and ‘Allies’ are particularly outstanding.

STARGATE ATLANTIS SEASON 2 will be released as a five-disc set, with special features including episode commentaries as well as a series of profiles on the cast.
