Movie Review by Nigel A. Messenger

Starring: Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx, Jada Pinkett Smith, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Berg
Director: Michael Mann

A movie based around an evening’s taxi ride might not sound very exciting but when the passenger is an assassin who’s been hired to execute witnesses about to give evidence in a murder trial and the taxi driver becomes his hostage your curiosity might just start to go into overdrive.

Tom Cruise plays a cold blooded killer in a complete change of roles to his usually heroic characters and Jamie Foxx is the honest taxi driver with dreams of a better future.

The most interesting and entertaining aspect of this film is not just the story itself, although it’s a great little story, but the way these two characters play off each other. Watching the characters individual strengths and motivations and seeing their relationship build as they actually support each other’s weaknesses is addictive viewing.

This strange friendship however can only have one outcome as the night draws to an end and the identity of the final witness on the killer’s list becomes known.

An amazing movie with Oscar worthy performances from both lead actors and some extremely well executed action scenes, my favourite being the one in the night club. This film should be on everyone’s must see list.
