Cowboy Bebop

Movie Review by Neils Hesse

Starring (voices of): KOichi Yamadera, UnshO Ishizuka, Megumi Hayashibara
Directors: ShinichirO Watanabe, Hiroyuki Okiura

Based on the popular TV cartoon series this movie follows the exploits of three bounty hunters and a wacky computer whiz kid. This time around they get the big screen treatment, bigger and more violent fight scenes and more spectacular graphics. The plot involves a virus that is capable of destroying the population of the planet.

Based in the future A.D. 2071 this cartoon excels in the illustrations, moody soundtrack and great voiceovers (in Japanese though with English subtitles). Very gritty and film-noir like it is definitely a grown up cartoon that packs a punch in more ways than one.

The story drags a little but that is what the filmmakers seemingly want it to do, so therefore it stays true to its roots. The loyal followers of the series
