Movie Review by Neils Hesse

Starring: Eric Christian Olsen, Derek Richardson, Luis Guzman, Eugene Levy, Rachel Nichols
Director: Troy Miller

Harry Dunne (Derek Richardson) and Lloyd Christmas (Eric Christian Olsen) are back or rather they are given a new lease of ‘movie’ life by going back to their teen years to show where it all started in this prequel to DUMB & DUMBER. Sadly though this movie doesn’t do any justice to these characters at all.

The premise is that Harry and Lloyd are starting at high school and have just met. Eugene Levy’s character is the slimy principal who is planning to misappropriate funds that are meant for people with Harry and Lloyd’s special needs. As expected the dumdums unwittingly solve the crime with a few hilarious results.

Despite Eugene Levy giving Principal Collins’ character just the right amount of sleaziness and sarcastic tenacity and the Dumb and Dumberer team actually pulling off quite a decent job, they are let down by an appallingly bad script. Add to this Troy Miller’s inept directing as he fails to portray the true bond between these two hapless chaps in addition to an extremely sketchy plot, the movie doesn’t have a whole lot going for it.

All in all – best viewed at home.
