Movie Review by Nigel A. Messenger

Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ray Liotta, Jason Lee
Director: David Mirkin

Maxine Conners (Sigourney Weaver) and Page Conners (Jennifer Love Hewitt) play a mother and daughter team of con artists, who specialise in running scams on rich single men. First they single out a likely target, then Maxine seduces him, gets him to marry her then immediately after the wedding Page moves in on their prey, makes some very fast moves to get them interested in her while Maxine walks in on the action and demands an immediate divorce and big settlement.

After running one of these scams on Dean Cumanno (Ray Liotta), Maxine and Page move to Palm Beach, con a free hotel suite then choose their next target William B Tensy (Gene Hackman). But Page feels she is ready to play the lead role and decides to run a scam of her own on a suitable younger rich man.

The two scams however don’t mix, things go very wrong and Page starts to really fall for another character Jack Withrowe (Jason Lee). But Jack also turns out to be rich and over protective mother Maxine sees him as their next meal ticket!

HEARTBREAKERS may be a predictable storyline but it is a very funny comedy, well cast and acted by all, but the two female leads really steal the show with Sigourney Weaver giving a very believable performance and Jennifer Love Hewitt looking very, very hot and filling the role perfectly as the drop dead gorgeous daughter.

For a very enjoyable fun night out you can’t go wrong with HEARTBREAKERS.
