True to Disney form HOME ON THE RANGE is a feel good animated movie about three cows who take it upon themselves to save their home – the Patch of Heaven dairy farm – and become bovine bounty hunters on the trail of an outlaw, Almeda Slim, that leads them into all sorts of adventures in their quest.

Pearl, a farmer and their owner, faces foreclosure on Patch of Heaven when the bank is uncompromising in its demand for a loan repayment by a set date. No money, no farm. Pearl is in a ‘no win’ situation so three cows, Maggie (Roseanne Barr), Mrs Calloway (Judi Dench) and Grace (Jennifer Tilly) take it upon themselves to find a solution and in town hear from Buck (Cuba Gooding Jr), a vain and annoying stallion that the renowned bounty hunter Rico (Charles Dennis) has set his sights on capturing outlaw Slim and claiming the bounty, which would easily pay for Patch of Heaven, so the three cows set off against Rico aiming to capture Slim first!

It’s a simple storyline interspersed with some funny moments and well voiced by the ensemble cast and their distinctive voices. However the movie will only appeal to younger children, it’s just not challenging or scary enough for older children who will suss out the ending all too soon and start fidgeting.

Entertaining but only to a point.
