Movie Review by Neils Hesse

Starring: Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear, Chris Noth, Mike O’Malley, Ben Feldman,

Director: Mark Rosman

Fresh faced singer/actress Hilary Duff takes a crack at romantic comedy with this hybrid romcom/drama. She plays Holly Hamilton, a young teenager who is fed up with moving all over America just because her mother (Heather Locklear) never stays in a town where she’s been dumped previously by a man. This time though Holly decides to take drastic measures to ensure that they stay in their current abode, so she cooks up a mystery man based on her own idea of someone she thinks is perfect for her mum.

In the process she ends up actually finding the perfect man for her mum but also finds the perfect guy for herself. Unfortunately when everything doesn’t exactly go as planned she finally realises just why her mum always ran away when things went wrong in the past. Luckily for Holly her mum decides that there will be no more running, so they are both forced to stay and attempt to work things out with their perfect men.

With Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear in the same movie this ought to make a lot of males very happy. Sorry chaps this one is strictly for the girls. It is very sweet, utterly predictable and for Hilary’s target teenage girl audience it should be more than adequate. Nonetheless had they stuck to just romance and comedy with no dramatic mother/daughter chit chat it would have been much more interesting.

Still it should put a few smiles on some young girls’ faces.
