Movie Review by Nigel A. Messenger

Starring: Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Eva Mendes, Cole Hauser, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges

Director: John Singleton

Hot cars, hot girls and hot action is the way the studio would like you to think of this movie and that’s exactly what you get. This sequel to THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS picks up Paul Walker’s character of Brian and leaves Vin Diesel’s character behind, or rather Vin Diesel declined the offer, and adds music star Tyrese to the mix. This isn’t actually a bad move as Tyrese comes across with a strong and entertaining performance but doesn’t overshadow Walker. The two make a good on-screen team and with glamour thrown in from Eva Mendes and Devon Aoki and the return of FBI boss Agent Bilkins (Thom Barry) the screen talent feels complete.

The plot – well the plot involves smuggling drugs cash out of Miami and there’s a nasty bad guy, Carter Verone, played by Cole Hauser but this is really just a skeleton to hold the action scenes together and could easily have escaped from a good episode of TV’s undercover cop show FASTLANE. This is not a criticism, I happen to like FASTLANE, it’s just an observation.

The ‘special’ and exclusive ‘killer app’ for 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS comes with the cars and the stunts. The car chases and races are excellent and there are plenty of them. And not just the driving, the way these scenes are filmed is like watching a choreographed adrenalin rush. The engine noise, the sound of the gear changes and a slammin’ soundtrack to go with it

2 FAST 2 FURIOUS is an hour and a half of adrenalin attacks for anyone who ‘s even remotely into cars (and girls) on film.
