Movie Review by Nigel A. Messenger

Starring: Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, Monica Belucci

Director: Stephen Hopkins

Gene Hackman stars as an influential lawyer opposite Morgan Freeman as a police homicide detective, who is convinced that Hackman is guilty even though the two are long time friends, or at least acquaintances. Whilst trying to cover up his troubled private life including his damaged relationship with his wife played by Monica Bellucci, Hackman’s character digs a hole for himself that he cannot get out of.

Both the main characters have a tremendous screen presence in this interesting look at the way the police build a strong case against the accused using only circumstantial evidence. Guilty or not, you’ll have to wait until the end to find out, only this is also the point at which the film let’s itself down slightly, but not enough to spoil the film.
