Attorney Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) deposes the CEO of DuPont, a large chemical company, Charles O’Holiday Jr. (Barry Mulholland), after discovering substantial evidence that PFOA causes adverse human health effects and environmental harm. DuPont denies this claim, yet Bilott points out the chemical giant knew the damage PFOA could cause and intentionally covered it up for decades. The attorney backs up his reasoning with DuPont studies dating back to the 1970s, concluding PFOA causes life-threatening effects to its receptors. Bilott urges O’Holiday to see reason and shows him a picture of Bucky Bailey, a baby born with facial deformities caused by his mother’s exposure to PFOA during pregnancy.
