After meeting with their biological father Paul (Mark Ruffalo), Laser (Josh Hutcherson) and Joni (Mia Wasikowska) promise to keep their secret amongst each other in an attempt to hide it from their mothers. However, Nic (Annette Bening) and Jules (Julianne Moore) find out and invite Paul over for dinner. After a bit of a rocky start, a connection is built between them.
