SWIMFAN - John Polson - director


John Polson is an award-winning actor and director as well as the founder of Tropfest, Australia's largest festival dedicated to short films. As a director, Polson's work includes three acclaimed short films as well as the feature film SIAM SUNSET, which received the prestigious Rail D'Or at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival's Critics Week, as well as an Australian Film Institute Award nomination for Best Film. In November 1997, Polson was awarded the Byron Kennedy Award at the AFI Awards for his contribution to the Australian film industry.

As an actor, Polson was most recently seen in the box-office hit MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: 2 for Cruise/Wagner Productions. Other film credits include: SIRENS starring Hugh Grant; THE SUM OF US, for which he received the Australian Film Critics Circle Award; and THE BOYS, which brought Polson the Best Supporting Actor Award from the Australian Film Institute. Polson also starred in IDIOT BOX, PRISONERS OF THE SUN, the miniseries KANGAROO PALACE and VIETNAM, and the television production DADAH IS DEATH. Polson remains very active in theater, where he began his career.

Polson currently has a feature project in development with Paramount based Cruise/Wagner productions and another in development with MOULIN ROUGE producer Martin Brown.
