Helen Hunt's (Darcy Maguire) portrayal of a single mother/waitress in Jim Brooks' AS GOOD AS IT GETS earned her a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and the Academy Award® for Best Actress. Most recently, she was seen in Robert Altman's DR T AND THE WOMEN and PAY OT FORWARD, opposite Kevin Spacey. She will next be seen in CAST AWAY, with Tom Hanks, and Woody Allen's upcoming project.
Hunt's other film credits include TWISTER, THE WATERDANCE, KISS OF DEATH, MR SATURDAY NIGHT, PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED, NEXT OF KIN, MILES FROM HOME, GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN and PROJECT X. Television audiences know her as Jamie Buchman on the long-running television series MAD ABOUT YOU. Her work on the show brought her five Emmy Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. Additionally, she has been honored with three Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award and three American Comedy Awards for her role in MAD ABOUT YOU, and viewers for Quality Television twice named her Best Actress.
Her stage work includes the Ensemble Studio Theater's production of "Been Taken" and the Broadway production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" at the Lyceum Theater, with Eric Stoltz and Spalding Gray. She performed the role of Bianca in the Shakespeare in the Park production of "Taming of the Shrew" and returned to Broadway as Viola in the Lincoln Center production of "Twelfth Night," directed by Nicholas Hytner.
