His second feature is a tough and restrained exploration of a descent into hell and what happens to a man’s humanity when all he knows is stripped away. This tense and bleak Swedish film follows a deeply unsympathetic man, Krister (Olle Sarri), as he wakes up in a bathroom covered in blood and the audience slowly finds out what horrific circumstances brought him there. This is an enigmatic and ferocious piece of Nordic noir which takes a classic thriller blueprint and fearlessly creates something new and very disturbing from it. |
