Synopsis
Centring on Peppino Torrenuova’s (Francesco Scianna) life, from
his childhood in the 1930s through to adulthood. The son of a
high-spirited cattle herder it charts his forbidden romance and
marriage to the beautiful Mannina (Margareth Madè) during a
turbulent time of Italian political upheaval.
BAARÌA is a humorous yet heartbreaking drama set against the
backdrop of the vibrant Sicilian town of Bagheria, also known as
Baaria, in the first half of the twentieth century. Nominated for a
Golden Globe®, the film is written and directed by Academy Award®
Winner Giuseppe Tornatore (CINEMA PARADISO).
