Synopsis

BORN INTO BROTHELS is an inspiring look at the transformative journey of a group of extraordinary children in Calcutta's red light district. It is a portrait of several unforgettable children who live in Calcutta's red light district where their mother's work as prostitutes. Zana Briski, a New York based photographer, gives each of the children a camera, teaches them how to use it and gives them the opportunity to look at their world in a different light.

Winner of the Documentary Audience Award at 2004 Sundance Film Festival as well as over 20 other major film festival prizes.
