ECCENTRICITIES OF A BLONDE-HAIRED GIRL reveals the trials and

life story to a woman passenger he meets on a train, Macário tell
this complete stranger how he falls for a young, blonde who lived
opposite his uncle’s Lisbon shop.
Swept up in a whirlwind romance he immediately wants to marry her,
and causes a rift in his family as his uncle is against this
liaison. Feeling the wrath of his uncle, who not only fires him but
also shows him the door at the family home, Macário has no other
choice but to leave.
Macário travels to Cape Verde where he subsequently makes his
fortune. Finally winning his uncle’s approval to marry his
beloved, he then discovers the “singularity” of his fiancée’s
character.
