Left demoralised, feeling betrayed and flat broke, Ray, an upstate New York trailer mom is desperate to make ends meet. When she meets a Mohawk girl called Lila (Misty Upham), a smuggler, who lives on a reservation that traverses both the US-Canadian, she sees an opportunity to ear some cash. Reluctant to become involved in this dangerous life, Ray considers her bleak situation and joins Lila as they become human traffickers smuggling illegal Chinese and Pakistani immigrants across the frozen St Lawrence River. But it will only be a matter of time before they fall foul of the authorities… |
