He hasn’t gone far in his quest when a cell phone rings out and is none other than the car’s owner, Kate (Zooey Deschanel). Instead of threatening to call the police, Kate strikes a deal with Mercer. In return for using her car he has to phone her and relay his experiences throughout the trip like a daily progress report. So despite ending up with a car from then on virtually nothing seems to go according to plan… Travelling from the American West - from Oregon to Nevada, through California and ultimately into Ensenada, Mexico – it is Kate who seems to be his mainstay on this life changing pursuit of his brother Arlen. With a soundtrack boasting some of the biggest names in the indie music scene, a score by M Ward and shot in the beautiful plains of the Mid-West, THE GO-GETTER is a road trip worth taking. |
