Synopsis
Asya (Elodie Bouchez) is a successful artist who works in New York.
She lives her life to the full regularly invited to exclusive art
parties, complete with supermodels, and stretch limousines. However
she constantly monitors the situation in the Middle East on
television. Then Asya hears that her childhood friend, Faisal, has
disappeared-the victim of a purported CIA abduction.
Coincidentally the same night, she meets Javier (José María de
Tavira), a sexy Mexican PhD student, and romance blossoms. Javier
thinks Asya is a tad paranoid with her conspiracy theories but he is
unaware that nothing in Asya's world is as it seems.
Zeina Durra's atmospheric debut feature THE IMPERIALISTS ARE STILL
ALIVE! is an alluring and intelligent look at the way the war on
terror seeps into the texture of everyday American life. Shot in
16mm film.
