Leaving California he decides to travel to Detroit where his unwell grandmother lives. While there he meets and gets to know his grandmother’s next door neighbors, the Hardwicke family. While Carter tries to overcome his own inner troubles he becomes involved with Sarah Hardwicke (Meg Ryan) and her two daughters – teenager Lucy (Kristen Stewart) and younger sister Paige (Makenzie Vega). Each one of them is drawn to Carter. He forms a different relationship with each of the Hardwickes that helps him out of his own depression. |
