Synopsis

Agathe Vilanova is one of the new generation of rising politicians. On vacation with her partner, Antoine, in the family home in the country, she is approached by Karim, the son of her sister’s housekeeper, and Michel, her sister’s lover, to feature in a documentary about successful women. Agathe finds herself forced to confront the consequences of her own ambitions, while the filmmakers’ comic amateurism crystallizes tensions in the relationships of all those around them.

Cannes award-winning writing duo Agnes Jaoui and Jean-Pierre Bacri (COMME UNE IMAGE) have once more created a fine array of characters and funny, romantic and sticky situations to challenge them. Let ‘s talk about the Rain turns a humorous spotlight on feelings of guilt, unfulfilled ambition and preconceived ideas that destabilize the relationships between lovers, sisters and partners, leading to infidelity, indecision and intrigue.

Ms Jaoui and Mr Bacri star as an ambitious politician and unsuccessful filmmaker. Jamel Debbouze, who shared the Cannes Best Actor award with his comrades-in-arms from Days of Glory, plays the professionally and emotionally frustrated young man who links them together.

With an excellent supporting cast, the movie contains all the ingredients that made Ms. Jaoui’s previous films worldwide successes: great writing, superb ensemble performances and an exceptional appreciation of human nature.
