Synopsis

When Shou is asked to clean out his dead aunt's apartment, the audience is taken through the life of this woman, a tramp whose body was found in a park. Miki Nakatani puts on a brilliant award winning performance as Matsuko through the ages, from angelic schoolteacher, through to her fall from grace, via prostitution, and her demise into her final tragic years.

A collision of visually stunning hues and Bob Fosse-like musical set pieces cover the 50s to the 80s of this Amelie-esque fairytale of a starry-eyed woman searching for her prince.
