Hilary Swank plays Katherine Winter, a woman with the ability to unravel myths. After losing her husband and daughter while working as a missionary in the Sudan she altered her perspective on life choosing to find answers to problems through scientific investigation rather than prayer. When a small God fearing Texan town succumbs to a series of bizarre events that appear to be the 10 Biblical Plagues, Katherine is called in to investigate further by school teacher Doug Blackwell (David Morrissey). Katherine and her partner Ben (Idris Elba) gradually understand that not every miracle is a blessing and realize that there's a dangerous fine line between faith and superstition. |
