L'ENNUI gave Kahn both domestic and international success. From the moment Kahn discovered Pascale Froment's book 'Je te tue'. Histoire vrai de Roberto Succo' he knew he had to adapt it into film. ROBERTO SUCCO opens with the arrival of the police to a horrific murder scene where a 19 year-old man, Roberto Succo, has brutally stabbed his parents. He is arrested and sent to a mental institution in Italy from which he manages to escape. Alone and on the run, Roberto Succo goes into hiding in France, travelling back and forth between the Mediterranean coast and the mountains of Savoy. On his way he leaves a trail of inexplicable murders, rapes and abductions, all of which baffle the police and leave them unable to connect the crimes - that is until he kills a police officer in cold blood. ROBERTO SUCCO alternates between two perspectives, one following the attempts of the French police to catch the killer and then bring him to justice, the other, and the more dominant of the two, follows the extreme madness of Roberto Succo as he charms, lures and kills or releases his victims. |
