Boy then loses girl as a result of the ultimate case of mistaken identity, they come to believe they are brother and sister! When the lovesick young man learns that it really isn't so, he must race across the country to stop her from marrying another guy. Gilly Noble (Chris Klein) is an animal shelter employee in rural Indiana who, as the story begins, hires a private detective to find his birth mother. The noble Gilly is also on the lookout for that one special girl with whom he might share the rest of his life. Gilly meets and falls in love with a charming, beautiful hairdresser, Jo Wingfield (Heather Graham). A passionate, physical romance develops before the sleazy private eye reveals the identity of Gilly's real mother: Valdine Wingfield - Jo's mother (Sally Field). Which they mistakenly think means they're brother and sister. After Jo relocates to Oregon, the lovesick Gilly learns that Jo really isn't so, and he frantically pursues his one true amour. Along his journey, he gets help from double amputee Dig McCaffey (Orlando Jones), a pilot with a leg up on the comic action. But complicating matters for Gilly is Valdine, who conceals a secret from her daughter to insure that Jo's planned wedding to a millionaire Jack Mitchelson (Eddie Cibrian) goes off without a hitch. From Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly comes another shameless romantic farce, SAY IT ISN'T SO. The new comedy is produced by the Farrellys, along with Bradley Thomas. Longtime Farrelly colleague J.B. Rogers makes his directorial debut on the feature, working from an original screenplay from Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow.
