Starring Javier Camara as male nurse Benigno and Dario Grandinetti as an Argentinean travel writer Marco, Talk To Her is the story of a friendship between two men told in relation to their emotional involvement to two women in comas. The film begins as Marco and Benigno first come into contact, as strangers, sitting next to each other at a modern dance production. The former is moved to tears by the spectacle and although they do not speak, Benigno notes Marco’s reaction. Months later their paths cross again at a private hospital where Benigno works. There, Benigno cares for Alicia (Leonor Watling), for whom he holds a secret and passionate infatuation, which began before her tragic accident and led him to take the job at the clinic. Marco is at the clinic visiting his unconscious lover, a bullfighter called Lydia (Rosario Flores), who has been wounded in the ring. Recognising Marco, Benigno encourages him to talk to Lydia and share his belief that one day, she (and Alicia) may wake up. There begins an unexpected bond between the men that takes them on an emotionally charged journey of love, obsession and loss that is both compelling and controversial. During this period of suspended time at the hospital, the lives of the four characters will flow in all directions, past, present and future, dragging all of them towards an unsuspected destiny. Talk To Her won the Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe Awards 2003.
