Synopsis
"Someone's taking the fall."
Insurance agent Mickey Prohaska (Greg Kinnear) is trying to kick
start his business with a view to reuniting with his estranged wife
(Lea Thompson). This master of salesmanship is looking for a sucker
willing to believe his spin. He finds one, an unsuspecting lonely,
retired farmer (Alan Arkin), who is sitting on something much bigger
than an insurance commission.
But Mickey’s attempt to con the old man goes awry when a nosy,
unstable locksmith (Billy Crudup) (also a paranoid ex-con with a
explosive temper) ups the stakes. Mickey finds himself cornered and
is now faced with danger, deceit and double-crossing.
Ultimately THIN ICE reaches a breaking point that no one, least of
all Mickey Prohaska, could have ever seen coming.
