Synopsis
THIRD STAR is Hattie Dalton’s directorial feature debut and
follows her 2005 BAFTA winning short, The Banker, starring Michael
Sheen. THIRD STAR features a quartet of excellent lead performances;
BAFTA nominated Benedict Cumberbatch (WAR HORSE, TINKER TAILOR
SOLDIER SPY, AMAZING GRACE, SHERLOCK), Tom Burke (CHERI, DONKEY
PUNCH), JJ Field (CAPTAIN AMERICA, TELSTAR) and newcomer Adam
Robertson (WIRE IN THE BLOOD).
The film is a moving comedy about a young man James (Benedict
Cumberbatch) suffering with a terminal illness, who invites his
three closest friends to join him on a road trip to his favourite
place in the world in West Wales. With no skills for the outdoor
life, this journey will test their strength, their friendships, and
their belief in what makes life worth living.
THIRD STAR was filmed in the summer of 2009 in West Wales, depicting
some stunningly cinematic landscapes.
