In their sprawling house on Long Island, New York, their lives together are comfortable and content until one very stormy day… Whilst shopping in the city for Charlie’s birthday party during ferocious winds, Connie is literally blown into the arms of handsome stranger Paul Martel (Olivier Martinez, Before Night Falls). A charming young French book dealer living in Soho, Paul helps her recover from her fall and Connie is moved by his carefree lifestyle, and passionate thoughts on poetry, love and living for the moment. After finding Paul’s phone number in a poetry book he had given her, Connie rings to say thank you for his help but is enticed into visiting Paul again in person. The tension between them is intense and sparks of passion are quickly ignited, entangling Connie in an obsessive love affair. Secret afternoon liaisons, romantic outings and spontaneous moments of intimacy give Connie a feeling of dangerous excitement she is unable to resist. Sensing a change in his distracted wife, Edward’s suspicions are raised further after learning his wife has lied to him. He employs a private detective to follow her but is shattered by the discovery of their tempestuous affair and his wife’s betrayal. Consumed with jealousy and rage, Edward’s reacts with devastating consequences… Adrian Lyne has woven threads of passion, love, betrayal and despair into a gripping thriller.
