Synopsis
Jorge Michel Grau’s visceral portrait, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE (SOMOS
LO QUE HAY), is also a debut feature, both beautiful and shocking,
following the dynamics of a family of cannibals when the father, the
main flesh-winner, dies.
When a middle-aged man dies in the street, he leaves behind his
widow and three children. The devastated family is confronted not
only with his loss but with a terrible challenge - how to survive.
For they are cannibals...
They have always existed on a diet of human flesh consumed in bloody
ritual ceremonies. Now the father can no longer supply the family
with victims, they are destitute without him...
