Corrigan – Sometimes I Think About

Single Review by Mark Bayross

Irishman Martin Corrigan wants to make music that will blow people’s minds, like those of his musical heroes – Talking Heads, Shellac, Johnny Cash. One spin of this Hammond-organ enhanced mania, complete with Corrigan’s demented vocals, and you’ll assume he’s quite serious, if a little over-ambitious.

B-side FACE is actually much better – a pile-driving tornado of twisted guitar noise and even more unhinged singing, but which all hangs together with a convincing sense of purpose, while the acoustic IT’S IN THE ARCHITECTURE JACKSON takes things to the other end of the aggression spectrum.

Definitely one for Fatima Mansions’ fans. Actually, come to think of it, Cathal Coughlan has been kind of quiet for a while…
