Album Review by EDF

Dado is a bit of an old hat when it comes to progressive dance. Using various guises in the last ten years; Transwave with Christophe Drouillet, Cypher, DanDan d Dado and Synthetic, RELOAD is his second trance album as Deedrah. Recorded in Ibiza and it shows, RELOAD uses soundtrack samples and hypnotic melodies to good use. Mixing layers of sound sequences and techno sensibilities, there is a feel good element evident on most of these tracks.

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE MACHINERY is probably best described as what would happen if you left the machine take control of music. Other tracks include the single RELOAD, GANGSTER with its movie soundtrack feel and Goodfellas samples. LIQUID SKIES and ANANDA sounds like something Eat Static would come up with. THE FINAL SWIRL sounds as if it wants to be the theme from Blade Runner, trance/2001 style.

There is a tendency for Deedrah at times to sound like other dance acts but mixing some fluffy hooks, house vibes and infectious bass lines makes the compositions here a bit less repetitive than others. This is a good thing as Deedrah’s musical vision is an inspiring one that should have you reaching your stereo and programming this album on repeated play.
