Empyrean Asunder – The Human Virus

Album Review by Mark Bayross

Empyrean Asunder mix elements of industrial, metal, punk and electronics into a heady mix of distorted vox, shredding guitars and processed beats. The result is not unlike the focused aggression of Chemlab or 16Volt, with splashes of keyboard adding melody here and there.

Tracks like APOCALYPTIC LOVE throw in elements of futurepop, while the pummelling EYES OF WINTER hints at a clear ambition for Marilyn Manson-inspired world domination. These are early days and the song writing could benefit from some structural imagination (currently they more or less all hit a groove and stay in it), but this is a fun listen and is sure to deliver the goods live. All this, and they have a bassist called Dopey.
