Fulc – Fallen

EP Review by Mark Bayross

Despite vocalist Duane Walker’s tendency to growl in strained American tones, the four members of FULC actually originate from Scunthorpe, and are now based in Leeds. This EP is their first official release, having recorded the three-song demo VOID to much underground approval.

With a sound somewhere between the current crop of VEX RED-style post-nu-metal (as on NEST and the excellent, explosive EVOLUTION) and BLEACH-era Nirvana (see last track BACKROOM SURGERY), via the short acoustic BROKEN, FULC certainly have the melodic power and balls-out volume to get many a moshpit moving.

Whether they have that special something to help them stand out in an increasingly crowded scene only time will tell, but for now, this is an auspicious debut.
