Joseph Arthur – Chemical

Single Review by Mark Bayross

CHEMICAL is the first single to be taken from New York singer-songwriter-painter-sculptor Joseph Arthur’s second album COME TO WHERE I’M FROM.

It’s a fairly lo-fi psychedelic mix of acoustic and slide guitars, with some pleasingly “live” sounding drums and layered harmonies. While it glides along nicely, it doesn’t do a whole lot more. I guess the song’s title is a bit of a hint – it’s the musical equivalent of lying around in bed all day in a drug-induced stupor.

If this does little to sell you Joseph Arthur’s abilities, I would advise you to check out the fantastic album, where his range and talent are much better demonstrated.
