Kawala – Humanistic

Single Review by Nigel A. Messenger

Kawala’s HUMANISTIC is an interesting mix of Hip Hop, electronics and country guitar with George (female) on vocals. There’s also a sneaky sample from the Simple Minds track NEW GOLD DREAM.

The single features mixes from Souled Out, Nylon and Futurebreeze. The Souled Out mix gives the track a radio friendly pop edge, the Futurebreeze mix is a deeper, harder cut, while Nylon’s interpretation is anthemic trance.

Last year Kawala supported Faithless in their UK tour and after the tour had finished, Kawala went back into the studio to add the finishing touches to HUMANISTIC and their forthcoming album SKILL.

The trio from Cambridge are Pete Brazier – Samples, Percussion and Programming, George Matthews – Vocals and Terry Mynott – Vocals, Keyboards and weird Hoover attachments!! The band have known each other since childhood but it wasn’t until their paths crossed again in adulthood and they discovered a passion for music, that Kawala was born.

This is an excellent single and deserves to do well, the only slight criticism being that the chorus is a little irritating. We await the album with anticipation.
