Llama Farmers – Snow White

Single Review by Mark Bayross

A year ago Llama Farmers were being heralded as the saviours of home-grown indie with their debut album DEAD LETTER CHORUS, then they vanished. Well, they are back: SNOW WHITE is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming second album EL TOPPO.

As guitarist Bernie and bassist Jenni Simpson boy-girl harmonise before launching into an avalanche of guitars, you would be forgiven for joining in the elation at the discovery of the new Sonic Youth. SNOW WHITE does indeed kick some indie butt.

However B-sides CERTAIN SQUARE and WEZ seem to be locked in a feyness competition with each other and, although they are only B-sides, they do hint at an alarming floppy hair and jangly guitar tendency which can’t be ignored.

The jury’s out until the album surfaces.
