Album Review by EDF

This is an exceptional epic. I would not usually start a review with the last sentence but there is no escaping it, this is what music is crying out for. Mixing a fine blend of classic instrumentation and electronica, this is chill-out music at its finest without the dull repetitive beats.

Lunz comprises of Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Tim Story. German born Roedelius cites classical composers such as Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Debussy as some of his influences and quotes “my music is the sound of literature, a philosophy in sound, sound cinema, sound theatre. It should be ‘read’ in peace, or contemplated like a picture, so that its content becomes accessible”. Philadelphia born Tim Story is rooted within electronic music with his influences ranging from Debussy to Miles Davis and John Coltrane. “I like to think of good music as a sculpture or a Japanese garden, where you can never experience the whole from any one point”.

While it might seem that the above quotes are pretentious, the quality of this, dare I say it, cinematic chill-out is both real and emotional; more emotion than words could ever bring to these instrumental tracks. Others might say it’s boring and that’s fine because they can always go away and watch the next gripping episode of POP IDOLS. This is real music for those who will allow it to breath and grow in front of them. This is truly an exceptional epic.
