Magnet – Lay Lady Lay

Single Review by Mark Bayross

Magnet fans will already be able to imagine what this sounds like, but then they’ll probably also own the album from which this is taken, the luminous ON YOUR SIDE. Needless to say, Scot-dwelling Norwegian Even Johansen treats Dylan’s classic to a slightly more faithful rendition than industrial filth pigs Ministry did back in ‘96.

He is joined on soulfully sweet vocals by Irish songstress Gemma Hayes and together, they give the song all the loved-up radiance the indie boys and girls will need to get them through those awkward student nights.

B-sides consist of new song WISH ME WELL and a remix of album track LAST DAY OF SUMMER courtesy of Tom Middleton (of Global Communication and Reload fame), as well as the video.

Business as usual, but irresistible business nonetheless.
