Marc Thomas – When One Met Two

EP Review by Mark Bayross

Marc Thomas (no relation to Channel Four’s satirist) is the lead singer of American band Mile Post Nine and blessed with an engagingly plaintive voice and an ear for melody.

WHEN ONE MET TWO is his debut solo release, an EP collecting together two of his older songs and two new ones. With an electronic sheen to the acoustic and electric guitars, these are infectious, if slightly samey tunes. Helping out on backing vocal duties are Max Power from Virginia Coalition (on SOMEBODY TOLD ME) and Vivion from Juniper Lane (on ANSWERS and SWELL).

Perhaps the most stunning track is the uncredited piano piece at the end of the EP – an indication that Marc Thomas possesses the grace and craftsmanship to become a truly great songwriter.
