Album Review by Nigel A. Messenger

The Now compilation CD’s seem to have been going forever but with this release we are reminded that it’s actually been 20 years.

I’ve heard a lot of unfair criticism of the NOW releases in the past but in my opinion the NOW albums provide an excellent service to any lovers of popular music. If you don’t want to go out and buy a whole pile of expensive CD singles and all you want are the main single releases you heard on the radio without the various remixes just pop out and buy the latest NOW compilation and capture a musical snapshot of pop as it is now – whenever now is.

NOW! DECADES celebrates its 20-year anniversary with this 3-CD collection:

CD1: 1983 – 1989 with songs like FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD – ‘Relax’, DURAN DURAN – ‘The Reflex’, BELINDA CARLISLE – ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’ and my personal favourite NENA – ‘99 Red Balloons’.

CD2 is 1990 – 96 with songs from the SPICE GIRLS – ‘Wannabe’, MEATLOAF – ‘I’d Do Anything For Love’ and PRODIGY – ‘Firestater’.

Finally CD3 spans 1997 – 2003 with tracks like KYLIE MINOGUE – ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, LIBERTY X – ‘Just A Little’ and S CLUB 7 – ‘Don’t Stop Movin’’ and of course the gorgeous BRITNEY SPEARS – ‘Baby One More Time’.

So all in all NOW! DECADES is an excellent collection of 60 tracks – all of which were number 1’s from the past 20 years. Keep it up NOW! You’re doing a great job.
