Paul Oakenfold – The Harder They Come

Single Review by Mark Bayross

2002 was good for superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold – his BUNKKA album was one of only 10 debut artist albums to have gone gold last year, possibly on account of the extreme catchiness of the single STARRY EYED SURPRISE.

He starts this New Year with the third single from the album, THE HARDER THEY COME, here re-worked with Tricky left in and Nelly Furtado thankfully replaced by 16 year-old Londoner Keisha White. Bet Nelly’s delighted…

The single comes across two CDs and a 12” and offers an encouraging amount of variety, with a live version of STARRY EYED SURPRISE, two new tracks – the Moby-esque MORTAL and the deep trance thumper MORTAL (also remixed) – and a remix of album track HYPNOTISED.

So, plenty of reasons to buy the single, and with Oakenfold taking BUNKKA on tour this year, 2003 should be another good one for him.
