Album Review by Mark Bayross

RETURN TO SERENITY is another compilation from those Aussie world music types at Music Mosaic and, as its title suggests, this time we’re treated to a collection of ambient ethnic tunes from all over the world.

Ranging from the lush organic soundscapes of Kamal’s SHAKUHAJI TALES to Yantra de Vilder’s hauntingly funereal FOREST TRANCE, this is an hour and 11 tracks of music to daydream to.

Having said that, there are occasional dodgy moments – Limborg’s LA MARCHE DE GHANDI does descend into ill-advised jazz territory, and EAGLE by Stairway & Stern is woefully prog-rock.

There isn’t much here to set this collection apart from the mountain of New Age music available, but the beautiful moments outweigh the trite…just.
