Single Review by Mark Bayross

Six By Seven can count not just the music press among their fans – Andrew Weatherall and Zan Lyons have decided to show their admiration for the band by remixing their snarly punky single EAT JUNK BECOME JUNK.

This release is limited to 12” vinyl, sold only through specialist record shops, or available at Six By Seven’s autumn concerts, when the band support Placebo.

Andrew Weatherall’s Two Lone Swordsmen mix won’t come as a great surprise to anyone familiar with his work. The former Sabre of Paradise transforms it into a dubby, trancey, slab of urban funk. Zan Lyons, on the other hand, crafts a startlingly nightmarish piece that drifts into the industrial ambient territory somewhere between Noisex and Download. It’s very avant-garde, will undoubtedly frighten off the indie drones, and is utterly fantastic.

In short, if you are a Six By Seven fan, you’ll want to own this. If not, get this for the Zan Lyons mix anyway.
