Single Review by Zoe Fox

Denmark born but London based 27 year-old Tina Dico has already made a splash on the music scene working recently with Zero 7 on their second album WHEN IT FALLS.

She has won a number of awards in her native Denmark and also has managed to bag a Grammy for Best Songwriter, and although fairly unknown to the public she has been racking up the achievements, and the awards to prove it.

Now bringing out her own debut album IN THE RED, LOSING is the second single to be taken from the album.

LOSING is a simply, pretty song with a chorus that raises the mood to be an irrepressible foot jiggler. A fairly skeletal piano accompaniment to the honey dipped vocals of the verses creates quite a haunting hypnotic feel with a steady pendulum beat pushing it on it is reminiscent of bands such as Massive Attack.

The strings that are added to the chorus also enhance this sense of rhythmic haunting, whist raising the tempo to a more rousing foot tapping level.

Seemingly a story of a lover’s infidelity the sentiment, although not new, is heartfelt and easy to identify with, and lends itself to her vocals and music most comfortably.

A sweet yet rousing track that should wet anyone’s appetite for the album.
